Mandalay's Parahita Min Gaung social organization investigated for alleged PDF Ties

Authorities have detained and are investigating members of the Parahita Min Gaung social organization in Mandalay for suspected connections with the People’s Defense Force (PDF), sources close to security forces report.

Contrary to some reports, the arrests were not related to the group’s involvement in the funeral arrangements for Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, former Mandalay Region Chief Minister and NLD Vice Chairman. Instead, officials are investigating alleged communications with PDF groups.

A source familiar with the investigation stated, “It’s confirmed that members of the Parahita Min Gaung organization are being held due to suspected links with the PDF. Those found unrelated to the allegations have been released.”

The source emphasized that no other charity or social groups involved in Dr. Zaw Myint Maung’s funeral have been arrested, reaffirming that the Parahita Min Gaung detentions are based on suspected PDF affiliations.

According to reports in some Exile media, those responsible from the Parahita Min Gaung social organization in Patheingyi Township were arrested for assisting in the funeral of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung.
