A man was found dead with gunshot and blunt force injuries in a canal near Pauktaw Village, Paung Township, Mon State, at around noon on September 26, according to local sources.

The body was discovered by a farmer in the area. A local resident confirmed that the deceased was identified as 23-year-old Maung Nga Phyo from Tankhuntine Village.

“He died from a single gunshot wound to the head. There were also bruises on his face, suggesting he may have been tortured before he was killed. It’s unclear exactly when the murder took place, but it seems to have happened within the last day or two,” the resident added.

The body of Maung Nga Phyo, who was found dead with gunshot wounds, was recovered from the canal by a local rescue team and transported to the nearest hospital for an autopsy, according to a local resident.
