Nearly 300 undocumented Myanmar workers arrested in raids in Thailand's Pattaya and Samut Sakhon

On the morning of December 13, Thai authorities carried out a secret operation in Pattaya district, targeting a high-rise building with over 100 rooms.
During the search, more than 100 undocumented Myanmar nationals were arrested. Thai news agencies cited statements from Thai officials confirming the arrests.
Police Colonel Napaphon stated that the raids focused on dismantling locations where undocumented foreign workers resided. He added, "The operation was carried out early in the morning, and most workers were still asleep. All foreign workers were gathered in the building's parking area for document checks, including passports, visas, and work permits. Most of them failed to present valid documents. Among those arrested were individuals wanted under Thai warrants and by Interpol."
Similarly, another raid took place in Samut Sakhon district at a well-known parcel packaging company and warehouse.
Thai authorities, including the police and immigration officials, arrested 128 undocumented Myanmar workers who failed to provide the necessary legal documents, as reported by a Thai police officer.
The arrested Myanmar workers are being charged under the 2017 Foreign Workers Management Act, Article 8, and its amendments. Thai authorities have announced plans to deport the workers back to Myanmar, according to local news reports.
