Prison guard wounded in shooting incident at Taungson production camp

An employee of the Prison Department at the Taungson production camp in Beilin Township was shot and injured on October 3. 

The incident took place on October 2 around 10:00 am., when Corporal Myint Zaw Win, stationed at the entrance gate of the camp, was targeted by gunfire, according to local sources.

"I heard that the two gunmen opened fire from the side of Seintsan Myaing monastery near the camp and then fled on a motorcycle,” said a local.

Prison guard Myint Zaw Win, had his scrotum pierced by a bullet. The resident said that he was injured by a bullet from his right hip and was taken to Beilin Township General Hospital for further medical treatment.

Time-bomb explosions and assassinations were frequented in Mon state and in the early morning hours of last February 15, explosion occurred at the township's electricity distribution office in the township and a day laborer was injured according to locals.
