Armed group destroys no. (606) of Maung Mae Shaung bridge in Tanintharyi Region, prompting urgent repairs

Bridge No. (606) of Maung Mae Shaung  Bridge in Ye-Dawei railway section between Yaybyu and Dawei stations and mileposts between 364/11-12 in Tanintharyi Region was destroyed due to mine blast by an armed group on the evening of September 25 as reported by the State Administration Council (SAC).

The explosion caused significant damage, affecting two steel frames, two horizontal frames, two 75-pound railways, and two guard rails, along with wooden sleepers.

Plans for immediate repairs are underway. Since February 2021, Myanmar's railway network has faced 79 explosions, 172 demining efforts, and 16 arson attacks on station buildings and staff residences.
