The government’s Overseas Employment Agency has announced that individuals who passed the EPS-TOPIK exam and Skills Test for the first batch of manufacturing and service sector jobs will be invited to apply for jobs in the last week of December 2024 or early January 2025.

According to the announcement, candidates are advised to ensure their health is in good condition and that their passports have at least one year of validity.

For the manufacturing sector's first batch exam, 5,540 candidates were eligible to take the Skills Test. Out of these, 5,377 passed, while 163 failed, according to the Overseas Employment Agency's data.

The EPS-TOPIK exam for those seeking employment in South Korea was held between June 3 and October 15, 2024, including an extension for additional applicants. Of the 48,000 total test-takers, 5,540 passed. These successful candidates later took the Skills Test from November 24 to 26 at Yangon University of Education in Kamayut Township.

Following the Skills Test, the final results were released, confirming that 5,377 candidates passed, with 163 failing to qualify.

The results of the EPS TOPIK Manufacturing Industry written exam’s first batch were released, revealing that only 5,540 out of 48,000 candidates passed, with the cut-off score set at a record-high 97.5 out of 100. The announcement drew criticism from candidates.

One candidate remarked, “This year’s cut-off marks were extremely high. The exam consists of 40 questions, each worth 2.5 points, making a total of 100 points. I passed with 97.5, but given the large number of candidates, more should have passed.”

Many candidates faced significant expenses, including tuition, accommodation, and food, as they traveled from their hometowns to take the exam. A candidate from Botahtaung Township noted that some missed the cut-off by just 1 point.

Approximately 100,000 people applied for the EPS TOPIK written exam for the manufacturing industry to secure employment in Korea. While 48,000 candidates have completed the first batch, the remaining applicants will take the exam in early 2025.
