In response to food poisoning incidents in temporary relief camps, the National Disaster Management Committee has urged donors to contribute fresh ingredients instead of cooked meals.

On September 19, the Committee expressed gratitude for the generosity shown toward individuals in flood shelters, but emphasized that prepared foods could pose health risks due to unsanitary storage conditions.

The Committee highlighted that food prepared by donors may not be consumed immediately and can lead to the growth of harmful pathogens, resulting in illnesses such as vomiting and diarrhea. Flood-affected individuals are already vulnerable, and the consumption of contaminated food exacerbates their suffering.

To ensure the safety of donated items, the Committee specifically requested fresh meat, fish, rice, oil, salt, beans, pulses, eggs, and dried fish for cooking. Donations should be made through the township administration offices, where supervision teams will inspect all contributions to ensure they meet health standards for those in temporary relief camps.
