SAC Chair and Thai PM address peace, trade, and labor in border region

The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and the Prime Minister of Thailand met and discussed border stability, border trade and labor issues, sources said.

The SAC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand, who is attending the 8th Greater Mekong Sub-Region Summit held in Kunming, China, on the afternoon of November 7 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Kunming.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including cross-border impacts on each country's internal affairs, stability, rule of law, and development in the border areas. Key topics included combating transnational crime, drug trafficking, and online gambling, as well as opportunities to enhance border trade, investment, and economic growth. Labor issues and cooperation between ministries and departments were also addressed, along with political developments in Myanmar, progress on shared goals, and preparations for free and fair multi-party democratic elections. The discussions underscored the close, enduring friendship and interdependence between Myanmar and Thailand.
