Myanmar's IBEC monk participates in Global Religious Leaders' Peace Dialogue at Vatican

On November 25, in Vatican City, Rome, Pope Francis hosted a meeting of global religious leaders to discuss peace-related issues. Among the attendees was Myanmar's IBEC (International Buddhist Education Center) monk, Ashin Thawbita, according to a statement from the IBEC Public Relations Department.

During the event, Ashin Thawbita engaged in discussions with Pope Francis and other global religious leaders on topics such as world peace and Myanmar’s peace efforts. 

The meeting addressed global peace challenges, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Middle East tensions, geopolitical rivalries in the Indo-Pacific region, North Korea's nuclear weapons issues, and the need for an expedited resolution to Myanmar's internal peace struggles.

The IBEC statement revealed that the monk was specially invited by the Universal Peace Council to participate as a Buddhist representative from Myanmar.

The historic nature of this participation marked a milestone for Ashin Thawbita and the IBEC institution. 

Meeting and discussing with influential global religious leaders, including Pope Francis, is described as a significant achievement.

 The IBEC statement emphasized that this reflects the results of Ashin Thawbita’s tireless dedication to promoting peace, especially in Myanmar, and highlights his commitment to achieving sustainable reconciliation in the country.
