Man, 20s, charged in connection with Balbriggan murder investigation

A man, 20s, has been charged in connection with what gardai have described as a "fatal assault" in Balbriggan.

The man is expected to appear before a special sitting of Dublin District Court in Court 2 of the Criminal Courts of Justice on Saturday morning at 10:30am.

Gardai attended the scene in Tobersool shortly after 11:20pm on Thursday where they discovered an unresponsive man in his 70s. The man was declared dead at the scene.

A senior investigating officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the inquiry, and an incident room has been established at Balbriggan Garda Station.
