WATCH: Armed school student slashes at boy with large knife during shocking daylight incident
It is understood the students involved in the incident are in their mid teens
by Jessica Mercer, Darragh Berry · Irish MirrorThis is the moment a knife wielding student at a school in Galway set upon a young boy, slashing at him during a shocking incident in broad daylight.
The video shows a group of young people in Galway city when one kid, understood to be in his mid teens, brandishes a large knife and attacks another youth, Galway Beo reports.
The 54 second clip begins showing two boys, dressed in what appears to be school uniforms, in a car park surrounded by a handful of other young people.

Suddenly one boy swipes at the other boy two times with what appears to be a large knife. Screams can be heard from the other people present.
The pair move out of shot from the camera while the group follows them. The camera then pans to the ground as the person holding the camera runs in their direction, whereupon the video ends.
A source told Galway Beo: "It's not the first attack of its kind and it's feared that it will continue to escalate unless something is done quickly."
Over 400 knife crimes have been reported in the Galway garda division since 2016 with as many as 15,000 knives seized by gardai nationwide during the same period.
Previously, politicians in Galway have called for an adoption of the ‘Scottish model’ which approaches knife crime as much as a public health issue as a criminal justice matter which has seen a decline in knife crime there.
