Bus catches fire on Dublin motorway as passengers evacuated
by Darragh Murphy · Irish MirrorA bus caught fire on the M1 motorway in Co Dublin in the early hours of this morning, sparking a dramatic rescue by emergency services.
Gardai and fire services rushed to the scene of a bus on fire on the motorway between Balbriggan and Donabate shortly before 2am this morning.
Thankfully, a successful evacuation operation resulted in no injuries to the passengers on board and the fire was safely extinguished.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí and fire services were alerted to reports of a bus fire on the M1 motorway in North County Dublin, on the southbound carriageway between J05 - BALBRIGGAN and J04 - DONABATE shortly after 1:50am on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024.
"No injuries were reported and all passengers were safely evacuated.
"The fire was extinguished and the bus has been removed from the scene for technical and forensic examination.
"Investigations are ongoing."
