A dad's 'savage' revenge on a nine-year-old boy who wouldn't stop kicking his daughter's seat on an overnight flight has won him praise online.

The 14-year-old girl shared the tale of her and her father's journey back from India, where she desperately wanted to catch some sleep before landing.

However, a young lad sitting behind her made this "impossible" by constantly kicking her chair. Taking to Reddit, she recounted: "When my dad and I were on a flight back home from India. Behind us there was a family of three, with their son behind me, and the mum behind my dad.

"It was a nighttime flight and everyone was beat. It was also a small, budget airline with not much legroom." She continued: "About 10 minutes into the flight, the kid behind me started kicking my seat. To be clear, he wasn't very little, maybe nine or 10.

"I let my dad know and he politely asks him to stop, and he does... for about 10 seconds. We tell him again (more firmly this time), but no luck." In response, her dad reclined his seat fully, restricting the space for the troublesome child. She added: "When they ask him to put it up he doesn't. They call the flight attendant and the jerk's dad talks to him."

The flight attendant sided with the father, having noticed the boy's antics, and confirmed he had every right to keep his seat reclined. She recalled: "He walks away with the dad left spluttering and cursing under his breath. Fun times!" Added the daughter, "The parents realised what happened and after a few harsh whispers, got the kid to stop kicking. But that didn't stop them from glaring at both me, my dad, and the flight attendant who walked by."

She continued: "My dad did keep the seat down for another hour, but got up once he was sure those parents learned their lesson." One person responded to her story saying: "Your dad gets an A+ in petty revenge. Some people can't be reached unless they are directly impacted. As long as the kid was kicking someone else's seat, they couldn't be bothered. People like these and the little sociopath they are raising should be dropped off on their own deserted island."

Another chimed in: "He should have waited till they had drinks (hopefully cold) then reclined rapidly - oops sorry!" While a third applauded: "Well done. Made them make the kid stop kicking, and got the added benefit of making them seem crazy. Two thumbs, way up."
