Man, 40s, charged in connection with €560,000 cocaine seizure in Limerick

A man has been charged in connection with the seizure of €560,000 worth of suspected cocaine in Limerick on Friday.

The seizure took place following searches at a number of locations in the city. Gardaí also stopped and searched a vehicle as part of the operation, seizing €490,000 of suspected cocaine.

A separate search of a property in Limerick resulted in the seizure of €70,000 of suspected cocaine. The drugs will now undergo further analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

Two men, aged in their 40s and 60s, were arrested in connection with the investigation. The man in his 40s has now been charged, and is expected to appear before Limerick District Court tomorrow.

The man in his 60s remains in Garda custody at a station in the Limerick area, where he can be held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 for up to seven days.
