Garda investigation launched following discovery of man's body in Sligo

Gardaí say they are 'investigating all the circumstances' following the discovery of a body in Co Sligo.

The body of a man in his 20s was discovered at a property on the Farmhill Road shortly after 8am on Saturday morning.

The man’s body was removed from the scene and taken to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. Gardai say the results of the post-mortem examination will determine the course of their investigation.

While gardaí in Sligo are investigating all circumstances following the discovery of the man’s body, the incident is being treated as a “tragic accident” and foul play is not suspected.

In a statement to the Irish Mirror, a garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Sligo are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of a body earlier yesterday morning, Saturday, 23rd November 2024.

"The body of the man, aged in his 20s, was located on the Farmhill Road shortly after 8:00am. He has since been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital.

"A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation."
