Convicted killer Kelly Noble is expected to decide whether she will admit or deny a charge of assault causing harm to another woman.

Noble (39), who previously served time for stabbing a young mother to death in front of her children, appeared before Dublin District Court on Wednesday. She was charged with assault causing harm to Chloe Eillson on November 2, 2023 at Hogan Place in Dublin 2. The offence is contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

Judge Patricia Murphy was informed the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed summary disposal of the case which means it can stay at District Court level.

However, the judge had to decide on whether to accept jurisdiction of the case. A medical report on the injuries the alleged injured party suffered was handed to the judge.

The judge said the alleged assault is at the “upper end of the scale for the district court,” but accepted jurisdiction to keep the case in the district court where, upon conviction, penalties are less than those that can be imposed at circuit court level.

A disclosure order to include CCTV footage was granted to the accused’s solicitor John Shanley. Judge Murphy then adjourned the case until Wednesday, October 30 for the accused to enter a plea or to fix a date for the hearing of the case.

Noble has previously served four and a half years of a six-year sentence for manslaughter. She stabbed Emma McLoughlin (19) to death in front of Ms McLoughlin’s children outside Pat’s Supermarket in Laytown, Co Meath in 2006.

Noble’s mother Jacqui served a murder sentence for hiring a man to kill her abusive partner Derek Benson, who was hacked to death with a sword in Ballymun in 2000.
