Gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses after a serious crash in Co Galway in the early hours of this morning that saw two men rushed to hospital.

At approximately 2.30am on Friday, 18 October, Gardai and emergency services were alerted to a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a car on the R360 at Ballintava, Dunmore, Co Galway.

The driver of the car, a young man aged in his 20s, was rushed to University Hospital Galway for treatment of injuries which have been described as serious.

The road remains closed this morning to allow for a full technical examination and local traffic diversions have been put in place for motorists.

An investigation has now been launched and gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses, particularly those who may have dashcam footage of the scene around the time of the collision, to make contact with authorities.
