Woman sets another woman on fire pouring petrol on her while she sat on couch

A Virginia woman is facing murder in the first degree after she reportedly set another woman on fire, causing fatal injuries. Authorities from Wythe County claim Savannah Adams, 28, targeted Tiffany Dunford at her own residence on November 17.

As per WSLS, an NBC partner, chilling footage reveals Dunford's burnt-out sofa, where it's claimed Adams drenched her in petrol before striking a match. The sofa was sat outside when someone passing by noticed the flames and dialed emergency services.

Dunford's kin alleged that Adams rocked up, bathed Dunford with gasoline, and then fled the scene. Just days earlier, an Oklahoma young mother of 24 was tragically discovered shot to death at her residence by her mother, right before her child's seventh birthday celebrations.

"Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim suffering from severe burns covering most of her body," declared a weekend briefing by the sheriff's department. "The victim was transported by helicopter to a specialised medical facility for treatment of her injuries."

Adams, who reportedly knew Dunford through connections with family and friends, was traced by her car seen fleeing from the site of the incident, according to Law and Crime. The local sheriff's department disseminated images of both Adams and her vehicle on Facebook, enabling authorities to locate and apprehend her, reports the Mirror US.

Arrested on Monday, she faces second-degree murder and felonious assault charges, which were escalated to first-degree murder following Dunford's death from sustained wounds in hospital.

In a heartfelt statement to WFXR, a Fox local affiliate, Dunford’s cousin Nancy Reyna shared: "Anybody that knew Tiffany, she could light up a room, and whether she was in the right or wrong, I don't care, I still loved her, but she didn't deserve to be burned," adding, "Tiffany is too nice of a person, and this is devastating to me and my family."

Prior confrontations with law enforcement were not unfamiliar for Adams as she was out on bond in relation to a minor property damage charge, as reported by the Bristol Herald Courier. Additionally, a court date had been set for her on December 5 relating to an alleged 2023 attack involving a metal pipe, where she supposedly expressed, “Savannah was trying to kill me,” remembered by an attack witness, as per court records cited by the Herald Courier.

The earlier incidents saw her charged with trespassing and assault — the former landing her two past convictions. As of now, Adams is detained at the New River Valley Regional Jail, denied bond.
