Woman, 70s, rushed to hospital after horror smash with stolen SUV as Gardai begin hit-and-run manhunt
by Andrew E Quinn · Irish MirrorGardai have launched a major manhunt after two people who were inside a stolen SUV ran away after colliding with a car which resulted in a woman being rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
The horror hit-and-run incident occurred in Dundalk, Co. Louth on Sunday shortly after 1pm.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the serious road traffic collision on the Armagh Road (R177) at the junction with the Toberona Road.

A car was struck by a SUV resulting in injuries to the sole occupant, a woman in her seventies. She was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda to be treated for what are believed to be serious injuries.
The two occupants of the SUV, which was earlier the subject of an unauthorised taking, fled the scene on foot and have yet to come forward.
"Investigating Gardaí have conducted a technical examination of the scene and both vehicles involved, and the road has since been fully reopened to traffic," confirmed a gardai spokesperson on Monday morning.
"Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. In addition, road users who may have dash-cam footage from the area at the time of the incident are also urged to contact Gardaí.
