Museum cordoned off after mysterious package found
· RNZPolice have lifted cordons around a museum in Napier after a suspicious package caused alarm earlier today.
The police said they were alerted to the package at MTG Hawke's Bay on the corner of Marine Parade and Tennyson Street about 9.30am.
The museum closed as a precaution and cordons were set up around the building.
In a statement police said an explosives dog was sent to the scene and by 2pm it was determined the package posed no threat.
"The individual who left the package has been spoken to and police have determined there was no malicious intent," police said. "We would like to thank the community for its patience while the matter was resolved."
