One critically injured at Whangārei waterfall

Emergency services are responding to serious incident at a Whangārei waterfall.

A St John spokesman said one rapid response unit, an ambulance and an operations manager responded to the incident in Whareora about 11.10am today.

RNZ understands one person has suffered critical injuries in the incident at Paranui Falls, where the entrance has been cordoned off and police are stationed on either side of the falls.

Firefighters are also at the scene.

The 24-metre-high Paranui Falls are located in AH Reed Memorial Park, just west of the city, and are accessed from Clapham Road.
