Dozens of phone and email tips have been received by police after offering a $100,000 reward in relation to the murder of Arthur Easton 39 years ago in South Auckland.

On the evening of Sunday 13 October 1985, a man entered the Easton's family home on Grove Rd, Papakura and stabbed Easton, 52, to death.

Alan Hall was wrongfully convicted of Easton's murder and spent 19 years in prison for the crime. His conviction was overturned in 2022.

In August three people were charged over the miscarriage of justice.

All have pleaded not guilty.

Since the monetary award was announced in October, Detective Inspector Warrick Adkin said more than a dozen calls and emails had come in to the dedicated service set up for the case.

The investigation team were now working through that information, Adkin said.

"We are determined to find the person responsible for killing Arthur.

"We cannot stress that no piece of information is too small or insignificant."

There are people out there who have not spoken with police who may have details about what happened, Adkin said.

"These details and fresh information will help us get the answers we need to provide some closure for his family.

"Relationships and loyalties change over time so we're hopeful that, with the public's assistance, we can advance this investigation."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the team by calling 0800 GROVE 1985 (0800 47683 1985) or emailing directly to Operation.Grove1985@police.govt.nz
