Fire in Māhina Bay quickly extinguished

Fire and Emergency say quick work has prevented damage to homes after a bush fire in the hills above Wellington's Eastbourne Bays.

A FENZ spokesperson said they received multiple calls about a fire in Māhina Bay just after 7pm.

Four trucks fought the blaze which spread over an area of nearly 300sq m.

The spokesperson said no homes were damaged in the fire, which was put brought under control within an hour of crews arriving.
