As per the 2024 report from the Joint Admission Board (JAB) and Joint Implementation Committee (JIC), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) continues to be the top choice for IIT Bombay aspirants, with 25,481 candidates opting for it, a significant increase from 21,893 in 2023. Electrical Engineering (EE) follows closely, with 21,811 candidates seeing a 15 percent surge.

Mechanical Engineering (ME) has also grown in popularity, with a 19 percent increase (19,469 candidates). Additionally, the five-year Electrical Engineering course saw a 25 percent jump, with 13,600 aspirants opting for it.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING (CSE): THE TOP CHOICE

In 2024, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) once again emerged as the most favoured branch at IIT Bombay, chosen by 25,481 candidates. This reflects a marked increase from the previous year, where 21,893 candidates listed CSE as their top preference.
