ADMISSION CRITERIA HIGHLIGHTS
Proximity to the school remains a key factor in nursery admissions. Other criteria include being a single child, girl child, having siblings in school, or single parents. Special provisions are in place for Sikh and Christian minorities, economically weaker sections, and parents with disabilities.
Private and unaided recognised schools have adopted a 100-point system for admissions, assigning scores based on various parameters. Neighbourhood proximity has been awarded the highest points in most schools:
- 50 points for homes within 6 km of the school.
- 40 points for homes between 6 and 8 km away.
- 30 points for homes 8 to 15 km away.
KEY DATES AND PROCESS
The first list of selected candidates will be released on 17 January 2025, followed by subsequent rounds if seats remain vacant. Many schools have already published their detailed admission criteria on their websites to facilitate transparency.
Parents are advised to review the criteria carefully and ensure timely submission of forms for their preferred schools.
