Guwahati schools to resume regular timings from October 1

Schools in Assam's Kamrup Metropolitan district, which primarily consists of Guwahati city, will revert to their regular timings from Tuesday with the temperature dipping following rain.

Guwahati schools will return to their regular timings starting from Tuesday, October 1st. This decision comes as temperatures in the city have dropped following recent rainfall.

The District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO) issued an order revoking the notification from September 20th, which had reduced school hours to 7:30 am to 12:30 pm due to the severe heatwave.

The DEEO's latest order states, "It is hereby instructed that all Government/Provincialised/Private schools under Kamrup Metro district shall follow their regular normal school timing w.e.f 1st October 2024."

Earlier, the DEEO had also ordered the closure of all schools in the district from September 24th to 27th due to the extreme heat. However, the closure was lifted as the weather improved.
