The Delhi government has introduced special modules on three new criminal laws for senior secondary students to enhance legal awareness.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in Delhi has developed these modules, covering the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam for students in Classes 11 and 12.

According to an official circular, the main goal of this initiative is to instill a sense of responsibility amongst students and educators, particularly concerning issues related to emotional and physical violence, ensuring they can effectively address such matters.

All government, government-aided, and unaided private schools under the Directorate of Education (DoE) have been directed to share these modules with teachers, students, and parents.

The three new criminal laws, which came into effect on July 1, 2024, have brought significant reforms to India's criminal justice system, replacing the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act, which have been in place since the British era.
