The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has made a major announcement for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. Candidates now have the option to choose from newly added two-paper combinations, enhancing flexibility for this competitive exam.

These are in addition to the two-paper combinations that were available in the regular and extended application windows.

Candidates registering for GATE 2025 who had taken only one paper previously can now add a second paper from the new two paper combinations to their application. This is available at a regular fee with no penalty.

Those who had already selected two papers may change their second paper only.

Those who want to add a second paper from the existing two paper combinations can do so at a regular fee with penalty.

GATE EXAM DETAILS

GATE 2025 will be conducted by IIT Roorkee on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025, in computer-based testing (CBT) mode.

Test papers will be in English, and candidates must choose a primary test paper along with an eligible second paper. However, due to logistical constraints, the second paper's exam centre may differ from the first, though it will remain in the same city.

Admit cards will be available in January, providing candidates ample time to prepare using the official mock tests designed to simulate the real exam environment.

The official website also notes that "Under unforeseen circumstances, certain combinations may be removed from the list in the above table at a later date. In such cases, the fee paid towards the second test paper will be refunded to the candidates."
