The UGC NET 2024 re-exam saw 6.84 lakh candidates appear, significantly fewer than the June exam's 9.08 lakh. The National Testing Agency (NTA) shared the results, along with category-wise cut-offs and qualifying data.

The exam conducting body, National Testing Agency(NTA) released the UGC NET result 2024 yesterday, i.e., October 17, 2024 on the official website. Applicants who have appeared for the exam can check and download the results from the official website by entering their login credentials like date of birth and roll number.

Apart from this, a significant drop in the number of candidates appearing for the UGC NET re-test has been observed this year. According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), out of 11,21,225 registered candidates for the UGC NET re-exam held in August-September, only 6,84,224 appeared, leaving 4,37,001 absent.

This marks a decline of 2,24,356 candidates compared to the June exam, which saw 9,08,580 participants in a hybrid format (CBT + pen and paper).

The June exam, which was cancelled shortly after its completion due to concerns about the integrity of the process, had recorded an attendance of 81 percent—an improvement from 73.6 percent in December. In contrast, the August-September re-test was conducted solely in online mode, across multiple days and shifts, marking a return to the computer-based test (CBT) method.

The re-exam took place over several days: August 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, and September 2, 3, 4, and 5. Before releasing the final results, the NTA shared both provisional and final answer keys, dropping certain questions from the final version and awarding full marks to candidates who attempted those questions.

According to the data, the registered candidates included 6,35,588 females, 4,85,578 males, and 59 third-gender candidates. As for the results, 4,970 candidates qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), 53,694 qualified for Assistant Professor positions, and 1,12,070 candidates qualified for PhD admissions.

The NTA also released the category-wise cut-offs along with the UGC NET results.
