- Google may launch the upcoming tablet with Keyboard and stylus
After the launch of the Google Pixel 9 series, the company is reportedly working on its next-in-line product -- the Google Pixel Tablet 2. The rumour has it that this time the tech giant will also be working on the Keyboard and stylus, which they missed previously. Google launched the first Pixel tablet in 2023 with a charging speaker dock. But it was not launched in India. Does it mean that the Google Pixel Tablet 2 will also be released outside the country? Could be. However, the chances of new tablet entering the Indian boudaries also seem viable. The speculation is based on the Google Pixel Fold and Fold 2 trend. The first fold was released outside India, but the second Fold came to th country as well.
Google Pixel Tablet 2: What do we know
The Google Pixel Tablet 2 was previously identified with the codename "QPR3" during the first Android 14 beta release. This codename also introduced two new entries: “Clementine” and “Kiyomi.” For comparison, the first Pixel Tablet was associated with the codenames “Tangor” and “Tangorpro” during its development phase.
Speculation is growing that the Pixel Tablet 2 might debut with an upgraded camera. To recall, the original Pixel tablet was launched with the 8-megapixel, f/2.0, 1/4-inch sensor, and 84 degrees with a FoV camera on both front and the back.
While the exact camera specifications for the new Pixel Tablet are still unknown, it’s widely expected that Google will enhance the camera hardware. In terms of performance, the Pixel Tablet 2 may also see a chipset upgrade, potentially featuring the Tensor G4 or the upcoming Tensor G5, an improvement over the Tensor G2 used in the first-generation model.
Android Authority has stated that Google is currently prototyping the Pixel Tablet 2 with a keyboard cover. It reads that the keyboard cover docks onto the tablet via the pogo pins on the rear and that it also folds to prop up the tablet. It’s a pretty simple accessory, similar to the tablets like the OnePlus Pad 2. There was strong evidence that Google was working on stylus and keyboard accessories for the original Pixel Tablet, but clearly the company never ended up releasing them. It added that the Google scrapped the accessories over quality concerns.
There are still a lot of details about the Pixel Tablet 2 we don’t know yet. For instance, will there be an official stylus accessory in addition to the keyboard? What are its full hardware specifications? What will its price be, and will the accessories be bundled with it? We’ll hopefully learn more about the Pixel Tablet 2 ahead of its presumed 2025 release.
