In Short

  • iOS 19 is expected to come with iPhone 17 series
  • It might be unveiled during WWDC 2025
  • Apple Intelligence with iOS 19 is still running late

Before iOS 18 could deliver all its Apple Intelligence features, rumours around iOS 19 are already making rounds. While several features are still under wraps, Apple is reportedly working on a smarter and more conventional Siri, called LLM Siri. Sounds exciting? But you will not be able to use it until spring of 2026. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the Apple Intelligence updates coming with iOS 19 are already postponed. However, the feature is speculated to be unveiled during WWDC 2025.

The slow rollout shouldn't come as a surprise. Apple has been running late ever since the AI came into the picture. Although the company has planned a lot, the time taken is also relatively longer. Read how the competition is two steps ahead.

LLM Siri: Smarter and better

Previously, Gurman reported that Apple is working on an advanced Siri, eyeing to compete with other leading chatbots like ChatGPT. Since the revamped Siri will utilise advanced large language model, for now the project is named as LLM Siri.

Apple is working on transforming Siri into a more conversational and intelligent assistant. The goal is to enable Siri to engage in continuous conversations with users and respond in a more natural, human-like manner. With the integration of large language models, Siri will also be capable of handling more complex tasks, something that currently requires OpenAI’s ChatGPT in iOS 18.2.

As per the report, the feature will be released as part of an iOS 19.4 update.

iOS 19: Apple Intelligence features

"I'm told that a larger-than-usual number of features scheduled for iOS 19 (beyond the new Siri) are already postponed until spring 2026 (when iOS 19.4 debuts)," he wrote. He revealed that additional features have been "postponed" until iOS 19.4.

He did not provide any details about those other planned features.

In the meantime, iOS 18.2 adds ChatGPT integration to Siri, and Gurman expects an integration with Google's Gemini to follow in a later update. Apple previously confirmed that iOS 18.2 will be released to the public in December. And with iOS 18.4, Siri will gain on-screen awareness, deeper per-app controls, and a few other enhancements, but it will still not offer fully-fledged ChatGPT-like conversational abilities directly.

Once the updated Siri is introduced, iPhone users will probably depend less on third-party services like ChatGPT and Gemini. However, iOS 19.4 is still over a year and a half away from its release, meaning there's quite a bit of time before this change happens. Until then, users will continue to use external services for advanced AI interactions, while awaiting Siri's enhanced capabilities in the upcoming update.
