Teenager arrested after serious violence breaks out on Bristol bus

A witness reports seeing blood on seating and floors

Violence broke out on a bus in Bristol today that left floors and seats covered in blood. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after the altercation that left a man hospitalised with facial injuries. The suspect was in custody as of Thursday night.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, October 10, on a number 24 bus travelling on Stapleton Road in Easton at around 2.40pm. The victim, a man in his 50s, sustained injuries to his face that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

BristolLive has been pictures that show a pool of blood on the floor of the bus. A witness said that the vehicle was taken to the Hengrove bus depot where it was cordoned off and a forensic examination took place.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. It is not yet clear how he came to be injured.

Avon and Somerset Police said: "Initial enquiries led to the arrest nearby just after 3pm of a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of wounding with intent. He remains in police custody.

"Anyone who was on the number 24 bus or who has any information which could help the investigation and has not yet spoken with officers is asked to call 101 and give the reference 5224267437.
