Four-year-old boy fighting for life after BMW crash in Bristol

A four-year-old boy remains in hospital battling potentially life-threatening injuries following a serious crash in Bristol on Sunday afternoon, November 17. An 18-year-old man is being held in police custody after the crash and a blonde woman is being sought by officers.

The incident took place shortly before 2pm on Long Cross, near the junction with Kings Weston Road, in the Lawrence Weston area of Bristol. A BMW car is reported to have left the road and collided with the young boy.

The injured youngster was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious life-threatening condition. Meanwhile, the two occupants of the BMW were said to have fled the scene.

An 18-year-old male suspect was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. He remains in police custody.

Officers are also searching for a woman who is described as white with blonde hair. She was wearing a black puffer coat, blue jeans, and light-coloured shoes at the time of the incident.

The injured child's family is being supported by specially-trained officers, and Neighbourhood Inspector Serena Serjeant has said: "This was a shocking collision and our thoughts remain with the young boy and his family at this time.

"Understandably, this incident has caused concern in the Lawrence Weston community, and I’d like to assure everyone that a full and thorough investigation is already well underway. I would urge anyone who has any footage of the collision or any other information about it which could help, to contact us."
