Biker dies in crash with VW Polo near Avonmouth
by Sarah Lumley · BristolLiveA motorcyclist has died following a collision between his bike and a VW Polo car near Avonmouth yesterday, Thursday, December 12, police have confirmed. Emergency services were called to the scene, on Kings Weston Lane near to the M49 and M5 motorways, shortly after 7am.
The biker, who died at the scene, has not yet been formally identified, but is believed to be a man aged in his 30s. His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by a specially trained officer from Avon and Somerset Police.
Kings Weston Lane was closed for several hours between its junctions with Merebank Road and St Andrew's Road following the crash. The closure was in place from soon after 7am, until shortly before 1.30pm while an investigation took place.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "We were called at 07:02hrs on Thursday 12 December to an incident near Avonmouth.
"We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an operations officer, a critical care car, and the hazardous area response team to the scene."
