Princess Charlotte 'knows what she wants' as she dreams of touching career that has nothing to do with royals

She reportedly has her heart set on a career away from the royal family

Princess Charlotte, despite being third in line to the throne, has reportedly shown an interest in a career path outside of Royal duties. She is the only daughter of William and Kate, sitting behind her father and elder brother Prince George in the line of succession,

However, according to reports, she has expressed a desire to become a nurse. The revelation comes after her dad told her and her brothers about the invaluable work NHS staff carry out. Speaking to New Idea, a palace source revealed: "She's obviously just a little kid but still, Will and Kate swelled with pride. She's such a caring little girl who also knows what she wants, so they wouldn't be surprised if she does take on nursing as one of her big causes when she's older."

In the future, Princess Charlotte is expected to take on a role very similar to that of Princess Anne, King Charles's sister. Along with little brother Louis, she will one day take on senior positions within the family and is likely to gain important titles.

However, it's been hinted that the Prince and Princess of Wales want their younger children to enjoy greater freedom.

Camilla Tominey, a Royal expert and associate editor at The Telegraph, has suggested that the couple will encourage Charlotte and Louis to "have their own careers" if they want to. She further stated that they would not want Louis to "go down the Duke of York path" and become a "royal hanger-on", reports the Mirror.

This sentiment is echoed by former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond, who previously told OK!: "William and Kate must be acutely aware of the problems for a royal spare.

"They have already shown that they have a different and modern attitude to bringing up royal children and I'm sure they will do everything to make Charlotte and Louis feel every bit as special, loved and valued as George. I imagine they will encourage Louis to explore life outside the royal fold... it could be the military, but it could also be working in the charity world or whatever he finds appealing after his education is finished. I'm sure they will encourage him to go to University, which they both enjoyed and where, of course, they found love.

"And from there they will want him to find a life that is meaningful to him as well as appropriate for the son of a future King. They will try to ensure that he feels he is living a life of value, irrespective of his place in the line of succession and that will probably involve service of some kind as they have emphasised from the start that they want their children to understand that having empathy with others is not only a kindness, but is rewarding as well."

Richard Eden, the Royal correspondent for the Daily Mail, also thinks it's unlikely that Princess Charlotte will become a full-time Royal. "From what I hear, the Prince and Princess of Wales want Charlotte to grow up with the expectation that she will get a job and not be a full-time royal," Eden stated.

"Personally, I would prefer to see a larger Royal Family, carrying out more official engagements and meeting more members of the public. If Charlotte is to get a job and not be an active member of 'The Firm,' she needs to be ready to step into the breach, if needed," he further added.
