The must-do Peak District walk this autumn - with breathtaking gorge and quaint village

The Peak District is one of the best places in the UK for an autumn walk - and three locations in the national park have been named among the top ten in the country

Taking a stroll on a crisp autumn day is a must this season. Fortunately for those in Nottinghamshire, one of the best spots in the UK for an autumn walk is only a short drive away.

The Peak District has been ranked among the top ten places in the country for a seasonal stroll, according to a recent study. In fact, three separate locations within the national park made the list of the country's top ten scenic walking locations: Winnats Pass, Mam Tor and Lud's Church.

The study, conducted by Parkdean Resorts, identified the most popular autumn walking locations based on TikTok data. The Scottish Highlands took the top spot, which isn't surprising given its vast expanse.

It was followed by Castle Combe in the Cotswolds, a picturesque village about 10 miles north of Bath. With its fairytale-like cottages and stunning medieval architecture, it's a perfect setting for an autumn walk.

Regents Park in London completed the top three, offering a unique urban walking experience. However, it was the Peak District that dominated the list with three locations in the top ten, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Winnats Pass, the breathtaking limestone gorge leading into the village of Castleton, came in fifth place, while nearby Mam Tor secured seventh place. The latter offers incredible views across Edale, Castleton and the Hope Valley and has become a popular spot for sunrise viewings.

Lud's Church, a stunning chasm near Gradbach, has been ranked ninth in the top 10 walking destinations across the UK this autumn, according to TikTok. The deep, moss-covered chasm, created by a giant landslip, offers an otherworldly experience akin to entering an underground world.
