Queen's Medical Centre bus stop to close for three weeks to undergo major changes
by Oliver Pridmore · NottinghamshireLiveA Queen's Medical Centre bus stop will be closed for three weeks as vital improvements to reduce delays take place. Nottingham City Council says a temporary bus stop will be provided around 100 metres to the right of the permanent one on Derby Road.
The QM02 bus stop will see improvements including a change to the line of the kerb which will make it easier for passengers to get on and off. There will also be pavement resurfacing between the bus stop and pedestrian crossing, paving to help people with visual impairments and a road treatment to address depressions in the road surface left by bus tyres.
The council says the work is part of its Bus Service Improvement Plan, which has seen Nottingham receive £13.8 million of government money to improve services for passengers. The works will begin on Monday (November 4) and last for three weeks.
As well as the temporary bus stop, there will also be a pavement closure during the works. Pedestrians will need to follow a signed diversion route from the QMC roundabout along Derby Road service road or to cross at the pedestrian crossing.
The second week of the programme, starting on November 11, will also see lane closures in place. The council says this will allow a safe working space to apply the surfacing treatment.
