Dog killed and owner seriously injured after Nottinghamshire crash near Tesco

Police have launched an important call for witnesses

A dog was killed and its owner seriously injured after a crash outside of a Nottinghamshire Tesco. The collision happened at the junction of Annesley Road and St Mary’s Drive in Hucknall at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, October 9.

The woman was hospitalised with injuries that police say are not life-threatening but could be life-altering. Her dog was badly injured and had to be put to sleep following the collision.

Nottinghamshire Police said the driver involved had stopped but then left without exchanging any details, before coming forward to police later on. Officers have now launched an appeal to trace anyone who witnessed the collision or those who captured it on dashcam footage.

PC Kirsty Woodhead, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:“The incident happened opposite a Tesco Express and is likely to have been witnessed by anyone entering or leaving the shop. It’s possible you may have dashcam footage that captures the incident.

“Please check your dashcam and come forward if you have information that could assist our investigation. Likewise, if you saw what happened and have any information that may be relevant to our inquiries, please call us on 101 quoting incident number 472 of October 9, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
