Two police dogs chased down two suspects and apprehended them after a 100-mph police chase. A call was made to report a break-in at an old Scout Hut in Annesley Woodhouse shortly before 2:30a.m. on Wednesday, October 30.

A member of the public said they had seen people with baseball bats and planks of wood entering the building in Forest Road and officers were sent out. The first officer on the scene saw a BMW drive o,ff at speed with no lights on and police began to follow with blue lights on.

A high-speed chase led police through Selston and into Derbyshire as the BMW reached speeds of more than 100mph. It finally stopped in Main Street in Alfreton where two occupants got out and ran into a housing estate.

Other officers from Derbyshire police arrived, while Police Dog Russo and Police Dog Seth bounded off to catch the suspects. Both dogs caught up with each respective man and helped detain them, one in a back garden.

They were both arrested on suspicion of failing to stop when required to and were taken into custody. The Scout Hut was later searched and a cannabis grow was discovered containing around 180 plants.

An investigation in relation to the grow is ongoing. Detective Chief Inspector Les Charlton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was another outstanding demonstration of what well-trained police dogs can achieve when paired with highly skilled handlers.

"By picking up separate scents, Russo and Seth located these suspects in the dark who may otherwise have avoided capture. Failing to stop is a serious crime and I hope these arrests will make people think twice before attempting to speed off from officers.”
