A police spokesperson said: "We’re appealing to the driver of a car involved in a collision in Smethwick last night (14 Dec) to do the right thing and hand themselves in. An investigation was launched following the collision on Dartmouth Road just before 11pm.
"Four adults and a child were taken to hospital. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 2-year-old boy sadly died. A woman aged 29 and a 30-year-old man remain in a serious condition while another man and woman aged 30 are described as stable.
"The driver of a grey Porsche Cayenne fled the scene. We believe the Porsche was travelling from the island on Kenrick Way before it hit the Toyota.
