Plans have been put forward for the conversion of a dilapidated bakery in a Nottinghamshire town into three one-bedroom properties. The property, located close to Hucknall town centre in Allen Street, could soon be turned into two flats and one studio, complete with rear garden space, three parking spaces and a four-space bike shed.

The property boasts 390sqm and the proposed development "will offer comfortable living spaces while preserving the building's existing structure, where possible". Each unit will be self-contained with its own bedroom, kitchen and living area, and bathroom.

The first unit will be a 43sqm studio apartment located on the ground floor of the building and fronting Allen Street. The second unit, also on ground floor, will be a one-bedroom flat with an internal floor space of 49sqm.

The flat will overlook the rear amenity space and is designed to be fully accessible, benefiting from ramped access to ensure ease of mobility. The third unit will be positioned on the first floor of the building and will also be a one-bedroom flat with an internal floor area of 53 sqm.

Planning documents submitted to Ashfield District Council also detail the demolition of a 37sqm outbuilding positioned at the rear of the former bakery, which is now in disrepair. The outbuilding is currently used for storage purposes and is not habitable.

A demolition statement submitted with the planning documents reads: "The outbuilding is structurally unsound, outdated, and no longer serves a functional purpose for the property owner. The intention is to remove the structure to free up space for the additional amenity space as identified within the proposed planning application. The demolition will improve the overall aesthetic and functionality of the rear yard."
