Three arrested after man dies in hit and run on busy Nottingham road

A pedestrian has died following a hit-and-run in Nottingham. Officers were called to Hucknall Road, Carrington, shortly before 11pm on Wednesday, November 6.

The man, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a car. The driver of the car failed to stop after the collision, police say.

Three men aged 21, 23 and 27 have now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following inquiries. Hucknall Road remained closed overnight and into the morning on Thursday, November 7, as investigation work continued.

The closure stretches between Alexandra Street and Claremont Road. A large police presence was present at the scene, including multiple officers and police vehicles, as well as a blue tent and forensic officers.

Anyone who witnessed the collision take place is now urged to contact the police. Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends following this tragic incident.

"This will have no doubt been incredibly distressing news for them to receive, so we are deploying specialist trained officers to offer them support at this difficult time. We are in the process of exploring several lines of inquiry, so would ask anyone who has information about what happened to come forward immediately.

"As well as appealing for any witnesses to contact us, we also want to hear from any drivers who were in the area at the time and may have inadvertently recorded dash-cam footage that could assist us." Anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV footage that could assist the investigation is asked to call 101 quoting incident 776 of November 6.
