A popular and long-standing vets in Nottinghamshire has announced its closure. Arnold and Carlton Veterinary Centre, situated in Westdale Lane, Mapperley, said it would shut its doors for good on Monday, October 14.

In a post on Facebook, the independent practice said the decision had been made due to the retirement of vet Ben Berlyne. "Given this Arnold and Carlton Veterinary Centre will be undergoing no further appointment after Friday 11th and doors will close to the public on Monday 14th of October 2024," it wrote.

In a message to clients, the practice continued: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, as our clients, for all of your support over the years and wish you all the very best."

Responding the announcement, clients expressed their gratitude to Mr Berlyne and the practice. "We are so grateful for the excellent care and advice you have given... we will miss your chats. Finding another vet we will trust is going to be hard," said one Facebook user.

Another added: "25 years we've been with you. It will be so hard to find a vet as good as you." According to its website, Arnold and Carlton Veterinary Centre treats all companion animals including dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as reptiles such as snakes and lizards.

It offers a full range of services such as health checks, microchipping, operations and vaccinations. The veterinary practice reminded people to submit insurance claims well in advance of the closure date, adding in its post: "Please insure insurance claims are submitted before these dates, so we have time to complete and submit.

"Please let us know before the above closing date so we can transfer client records to your new Veterinary Practice."
