The view from Strawberry Bank in Huthwaite

The 13 highest hills in Nottinghamshire - boasting incredible views

The 'highest hill' debate that has rumbled on for years - but still no definitive conclusion can be drawn

by · NottinghamshireLive

While Nottinghamshire may not be home to any mountains, it does boast a number of charming hills offering splendid views. However, the title of the tallest hill in the county is a matter of some debate.

It used to be considered to be Strawberry Bank in Huthwaite. Later it became Silverhill Wood near Teversal.

Yet, some argue that Silverhill Wood, being a man-made hill from the spoil tip at the former Teversal Colliery, should not count and that nearby Newtonwood Lane is actually taller. According to Ordnance Survey, Newtonwood Lane measures 204.71m (672ft) and Silverhill Wood stands at 203.99m (669 ft).

But with a potential discrepancy of up to 250cm in their measurements, no definitive conclusion can be drawn. We've compiled a list of all the hills in Nottinghamshire which we believe are over 400ft.
