I decided to treat my 60 year old mum to a bit of a makeover – something she rarely indulges in for herself. She's always been a fan of the "less is more" approach when it comes to makeup, but I thought it would be fun to introduce her to some of my favourite products.

Little did I know that one particular product would completely revolutionise her skin and it was something she'd never come across before. We began by prepping her skin, which had been feeling somewhat dry and lacklustre recently.

I reached for the Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème (£33.60, reduced from £42) and massaged it into her face. This cream is a personal favourite of mine and as soon as I applied it to my mum's skin, the difference was immediately noticeable.

It felt hydrating and invigorating without being heavy and it gave her complexion a gentle glow. My mum, who usually sticks to a basic moisturiser, was already impressed by how her skin felt.

Next, I introduced her to the concept of primer. My mum had never used one before, so I decided to try the Glow Hub Hy-Glaze Face Frosting Serum Drops in shade Glaze (£16) on her, reports the Mirror.

This product has pretty much achieved TikTok fame at this point and I was eager to see how it performed on mature skin. The serum gave her skin an almost glass-like finish, helping everything else glide on effortlessly.

The transformation of her complexion from tired and dull to radiant was remarkable. My mum was astounded by the difference, stating that this was the one product that truly altered her entire outlook on makeup.

By the end of our mini pampering session, she was already inquiring if she could keep it. With her skin looking fresh and glowing, I proceeded to add some colour.

I applied the Refy Cream Bronzer in shade Tan (£18) to her cheeks and temples to infuse warmth and a touch of dimension. This bronzer goes a long way, and it blended flawlessly into her skin, giving her a subtle sun-kissed appearance.

I brightened her under-eye area with the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer, now £18.90 down from £27. This product worked miracles in making her look more alert without settling into fine lines.

For her eyebrows, I kept things simple but effective with got2b's 2-in-1 Eyebrow Gel (£10.99). It gave her brows a slight laminated look without being too dramatic, which was ideal for my mum, who isn't a fan of bold brows.

We completed the face with a pop of blush using the Nudestix Nudies Matte All Over Face Blush (£30) in a soft pink shade that made her look fresh and healthy.

For the eyes, I relied on my go-to L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Panorama Mascara (£10.39), which gave her lashes a lovely lift and definition without any clumps. We then moved onto the lips.

I outlined her lips with the Refy Lip Sculpt (£18) in Taupe, followed by a classic application of MAC's Velvet Teddy (£25), which beautifully complemented her skin tone. To finish, I applied Clarins Lip Perfector in Soft Pink Glow (£19.55).

My mum was thrilled with the soft, glossy finish and couldn't stop remarking on its pleasant scent. By the end, my mum's skin was glowing, making her look youthful and radiant.

For my mum, The Glow Hub serum was definitely the standout product. It completely transformed her complexion and gave her a newfound confidence in wearing makeup.
