Three men were arrested after a car failed to stop following the collision, police say

A police cordon remains in place on a busy Nottingham road after the death of a pedestrian following a hit and run. Hucknall Road, Carrington, has been closed since around 11pm on Wednesday, November 6.

A man aged in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a car, which police said failed to stop following the collision. Three men aged 21, 23 and 27 have now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following inquiries.

The road was still closed as of 12pm on Thursday, November 7, as police continued pursuing a number of lines on inquiry. The family of the victim are being supported by specialist trained officers.

A large police presence was present at the scene, including multiple officers and police vehicles, as well as a blue tent and forensic officers. Anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV footage that could assist the investigation is asked to call 101 quoting incident 776 of November 6.

Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends following this tragic incident. This will have no doubt been incredibly distressing news for them to receive, so we are deploying specialist trained officers to offer them support at this difficult time.

"We are in the process of exploring several lines of inquiry, so would ask anyone who has information about what happened to come forward immediately. As well as appealing for any witnesses to contact us, we also want to hear from any drivers who were in the area at the time and may have inadvertently recorded dash-cam footage that could assist us."
