Floral tributes left for young man who died in Nottingham hit and run
by Joshua Hartley · NottinghamshireLiveFloral tributes have been left for a young man who died after a hit and run on a busy Nottingham road. The man, who was aged 23, died after being struck by a vehicle In Hucknall Road, Carrington on the evening of Wednesday, November 6.
Nottinghamshire Police were called to the scene at around 11pm, with the man being pronounced dead by emergency responders. In the past few days flowers have been left nearby in memory of the man, who has not yet been named.
Mourning loved ones and members of the local community have also placed candles and put up signs on a fence near Hucknall Road's junction with Ebury Road. "Tributes and flowers for Kenny. R.I.P," one sign said, followed by a drawing of a heart.
Another added: "R.I.P to the lad who sadly lost his life here on November 6." Three men aged 21, 23 and 27 were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the man's death.
Taufeeq Ahmed, 23, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and dishonestly failing to disclose information.
Ahmed, of Bestwood, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Saturday, November 9). The two other men, aged 21 and 27, have been released on police bail.
Hucknall Road was closed for around 14 hours between Claremont Street and Alexandra Street during the evening of November 6 and morning of November 7 as police investigated the scene. Nottinghamshire Police has appealed for anyone with information about what happened to come forward immediately, quoting incident 776 of November 6.
