Post Office issues alert over DWP letters containing £150

One Postmaster issued an important reminder

by · NottinghamshireLive

The Post Office has issued a reminder to households to look out for letters from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) containing a £150 voucher for the Warm Home Discount. The scheme is now open nationwide, and those with prepayment meters are urged to redeem their vouchers at one of the Post Office's 11,500 branches.

According to Post Office data, more than £3 million worth of vouchers went unclaimed last year, while 300,000 vouchers were successfully processed through its branches. Postmasters, such as Kevin Elson from Bache Post Office, are highlighting the importance of accessing this support, especially with rising energy bills.

Mr Elson said: "We know many people are worried about the cost of their energy bills as the colder weather starts to set in. £150 can make a big difference, especially to people who are on pay-as-you-go meter."

He added: "It's really important that people are able to access the financial support schemes that are available, such as the Warm Homes Discount. That's why postmasters, like me, and our teams stand ready to help and ensure that people can easily redeem their vouchers."

It's crucial to redeem the voucher shortly after receiving it as they do have an expiry date, some in as little as 30 days. If the voucher is lost or expires, households can get in touch with their supplier to have it reissued, reports Birmingham Live.

The Warm Home Discount Helpline, on 0800 030 9322, is available to assist customers who have received a letter about their eligibility.
