Investigation launched in Clifton after gun fired and brick thrown through window

Police are investigating after a gun was fired through a window in Clifton. A call was made reporting a damaged window on Whitegate Vale, off Green Lane, at 6pm on Tuesday, November 12.

Inquiries were then made, which led to police determining that a firearm had been discharged. They also found that a brick had been thrown threw the window.

It is unclear whether police cordoned off the road straight away. But locals reported officers descending on the road at around 5.30pm on Thursday, November 14, with the street taped off between Burtness Road and Waterdown Road.

A cordon remained in place on Friday, November 15 at 12pm. Nobody was injured in the incident. Detective Sergeant Chris Mavers, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were called to Whitegate Vale, Clifton, around 6pm on Tuesday (12 November) after reports a window had been damaged at a property. Following inquiries we believe a firearm was discharged and a brick was also thrown through the window.

“No one was injured during the incident but we take any report of this nature with the utmost seriousness. We are carrying out a thorough investigation into what happened, and you may see more officers in the area. This is purely for reassurance purposes and so we can continue carrying out inquiries.

“If you have any relevant doorbell, CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage, or spotted anything suspicious please get in touch with us or make an anonymous report.”
