Elderly woman 'decapitated' after 28-storey fall in front of horrified bystanders

An 80 year old woman was found on the floor with her head and arm cut off of her body after falling from her New York City apartment.

An elderly woman has been beheaded after plunging from the 28th floor of a New York apartment block.

Witnesses to the horrific incident said the 80-year-old was found on the floor with her head and arm severed from her body. Those who witnessed the terrifying fall think a balcony edge caused the horrific decapitation, with others claiming that they saw the body in the street, the Mirror reports.

One shocked resident said: "I pulled up just as she was laying there, she had no head. The head and the arm were clean cut off on the other side, they ended up on the terrace."

According to authorities, the unnamed woman fell from the 28th story of the Regis Apartments at 3.30pm on Saturday, October 12.

Her clothes were discovered confined to a fence near the bottom of the building, which residents described as badly bent by the impact. Another person who saw the horror incident, an unnamed 23-year-old, said: "Everyone started rushing towards the body but she was gone.

"Her body landed there but her head and leg hit the fence there, you can see it’s bent, there were clothes and blood stuck there."

Witnesses said the corpse became entangled on something on the tower's side, which has multiple balconies, and fell to the ground decapitated.

Officers taped off the expensive apartment tower with blue tape, and multiple police cars were seen on the site. The victim who fell from the 28th story was wrapped in a white cloth before being taken away by emergency services.

The New York Police Department is currently investigating the woman's possible motive behind the woman's plunge. The victim's name has not been disclosed.
